First Book Up For Grabs: Robert Allen’s, Creating Wealth

January 13th, 2008 by Connie | 1 Comment | Filed in Reviews

Am I the only person in America who’s never heard of Robert Allen?

During the recent Barnes and Noble or-gee, one book in particular caught in the bifocals– Creating Wealth, Retire in 10 Years or Less Using Allen’s Seven Principles of Wealth by Robert Allen. As a reformed book-hoarder and proud graduate of Book-a-Holics Anonymous, I’ll confess to an affinity for quality bindings, beautiful paper and shiny book jackets. I’m afraid this time I was enticed by flash not substance and repent there-of with much weeping.

For three days, certain persons read eagerly through chapters 1-6. Somewhere thereafter, something began niggling at the corners of her feeble little braincells. Whatever could it be? (she said sheepishly, checking the dustjacket to see just how much she’d invested in this tome’) Somewhere in the vicinity of Chapter 11 (I Hate Real Estate!), the proverbial light bulb went on… exactly how many times has this man used the phrase, “negative cashflow”??

Say What?

Certain people around here *adore* real estate. This same persona disagrees with just about everything in chapter 11 and began to wonder just why this guy was talking so stinking much about something he hates. And as much as certain people love real estate, these same people despise negative cashflow. Hate, loathe, despise, abhor. Etc.

How on earth’s a body suppose to acquire 20 homes in 10 years thataway??

And now, certain persons are having a hard time finishing the book. Time to pass this along to someone who might get some mileage where I cannot, so if you’re interested, please leave a comment. The book’s marked up with lots of highlighter (first 11 chapters anyway) and the dustjacket is a bit rumpled because I used it as a bookmark. In a few days, JoJo will draw straws to pick a lucky recipient.

JoJo’s feeling a little negative about this book and demands it leave his domain pronto.
