What’s Next

For my loyal readers (both of you-heads up!) here’s one of those dumb goodnewsbadnews thingies…

There *will* be future additions to this site.
They probably won’t have much to do about real estate.

A recent conversation went something like this:
“Yo dudette– you could totally keep blogging and stuff~”
“Look shrimp, I’m out of real estate stuff to write about. Everything’s […]

UPDATE #1
New Plan:

We’ve learned the house is owned by a woman in her 90’s who refuses to budge on her price. Some creative thinking is in order:
Clue #1: Lady in her 90’s is not likely to tote the note, unless we could come up with something that would get her paid off within 3-5 […]

Spring Cleaning: Budget, Chickens, Business, Etc.

Posted in April 10th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home, real estate

We’re snowed under around here taking care of tookie-tail stuff. It’s that time of year for new beginnings and self reflection and spring cleaning, both real and metaphorical. Every year we do the following (in no particular order):
*Get the taxes together for our CPA. Reevaluate tax position and make changes for next year. We’re not […]

Get Well Soon, John!

Posted in March 27th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home

My friend, Becky Schultea, over at Just Bee and Me, is a very happy woman. One of the main reasons for her recent spurt of all things joyful is this guy right here:

John Schultea is the sort of guy you like right away.  He’s kind and loving and treats Becky like the princess we’ve all known […]

A few follow-up pictures:

Leather top all ruined and stuff following the leather dye application.  I tried a deglosser and dye for leather shoes and handbags. Unfortunately, once started there was no way to take it all back despite the ick.
Very sad…
Rescue procedures are in the works so All Is Not Lost (just in case anyone was worried :)  ) […]

Happy Birthday~The Mrs. Turns 47

Posted in February 28th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home

Guess what the mister’s giving me for my birthday? (Besides the pretty flowers on the buffett )
He’s upstairs at this very moment finishing the gameroom. How cool is that? Plus friends are coming over to help and learn to install one of the mister’s semi-famous pine floors.
I don’t tell too many people around here, […]

Mahogany Tables: Take 2

Posted in February 27th, 2008
by Connie in Building Materials & Products, Hearth and Home

(I think I’ve ruined my mahogany tables.)
The leather dye was actually a thick, paint-type thing and now they look like a pair of old saddle shoes… only without the nostalgic factor or the tiniest element of cute.
Pictures to follow–
Sniff.

Howard Restor-A-Finish Trial: Mahogany Tables

Posted in February 19th, 2008
by Connie in Building Materials & Products, Hearth and Home

Another gorgeous day– perfect for an afternoon on the front porch. And since the Mrs. can’t sit still for any length of time, she was soon joined by the set of mahogany tables found last week at the thrift store. The price was right, the condition questionable. Fortunately, an internet search turned up quite a few recommendations for Howard Restor-A-Finish. […]

Of Mice and Tax-Men

Posted in February 18th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home, Very Silly Indeed

The Mrs. has found herself buried beneath mounds of tax related documents.  Spreadsheets and Home Depot receipts and file boxes are spilling out of the office, infecting various other locales with their annoying little Numbers of Doom. The only cure, of course, involves an investment of  sufficient seat time to actually Finish The Taxes, then trot […]

Perfect Weekend

Posted in February 15th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home

No bloody way I’m writing about REI~ the weekend was absolutely perfect beyond bearing. Sunny, warm, easy breeze~Porch swing weather .
The mrs. has the most satisfying blister on her thumb from pruning grapevines without gardening gloves (amazing the necessary things you forgot in just a few months). The mister has blisters in other places from riding around […]

Change is Coming

Posted in January 7th, 2008
by Connie in Hearth and Home, real estate

When you’re a kid it feels like nothing will ever change. As adults, we know that isn’t the case. Change happens constantly but we’re usually just too stinkin’ busy to notice– until we pull out the wedding album and count the number of relatives that have gone on to Glory or revisit the home of our childhood and find that all […]

Updates

Posted in November 29th, 2007
by Connie in Hearth and Home, Rehab, Uncategorized

Our agent called and left a message–seems she’s been gallivanting around Europe and South Texas. Anyway, I’ve got the street address to the 10K lot and trailer and will do a drive-by tomorrow while I’m out buying another gallon of paint for the kitchen cabinets. Hopefully, I’ll get some good pictures and post them tomorrow […]
