Happy Anniversery

July 31st, 2008 by Connie | 4 Comments | Filed in Hearth and Home, Ruminations on Life and Stuff

Today’s my one year blogging anniversary which basically means I had to pony up another $95 or allow conniebrz to sink into oblivion…

So I checked my adsense account and found that surprise! I’ve earned $92.12 which is below the magic number needed to actually get paid, yet tantalizingly close enough to warrant keeping the blog another year as it’s basically paid for itself. Seemed like simple decision at the time…

And Now for Something Completely Different…

For those who’ve been so kind to inquire, here are some details from the past Weeks of Solitude:

1) May was Overstuffed. Graduations, birthdays, big parties, little parties, etc. Absolutely no time to write, no time to blog, no time to think. But during May, something mysterious occurred… the back stopped hurting so much. An old injury means sciatica flares up on a regular basis. May, however, was relatively pain-free despite the flurry of hyper-activity.

Only someone with the IQ of oatmeal would miss the connection relating computers/writing/blogging and back misery. And as mine apparently hovers somewhere betwixt pancakes and creme brulee’, the great epiphany occurred sometime last week. Which meant certain individuals avoided the computer like crazy, even though the pancakes never bothered to mention why.

But believe me, Lack-of-Pain is amazingly addictive.

But so is writing and I seem unable to stop tip-tapping for any prolonged length of time. So’s the Mister takes me to Ikea, see? And he buys me a new leather chair with a funny name, see? That’s uber comfy although not quite fitting with the overall decorating vibe hereabouts:

2) JoJo is fine, thanks. Goofy as ever, having earned his new title over the summer, Grand Destroyer of Landscaping

3) Real estate is doing great, but not much new to report. We’ve been looking for a house to owner finance– thought we’d found something yesterday (adorable Craftsman in-town for 30K, needing about 15K in repairs) but someone beat us to it. (Raspberries in their general direction.)

Two vacancies in June prompted some rehab and repair, plus the usual round of cleaning, advertising, showing and screening. Two new tenants installed, only one month’s rent lost on the least expensive place, none lost on the other. And that pretty much took care of June.

4) July was Child Care Month at the Brz Funny Farm, All 4 had Special Needs which required immediate, month-long attention from Mommy whilest Daddy Dearest got to be the Good Guy and sit about on the couch uttering sympathetic nonsense. (Silly man, kicks are for kids.)

5) The blog is ugly. New themes are called for, but can’t be changed until the Adsense magic number of $100 is reached as certain people don’t know how to change the theme and keep the ads. And while the ads can go bye-bye without many tears, I want that dough first, dadgumit.
