No bloody way I’m writing about REI~ the weekend was absolutely perfect beyond bearing. Sunny, warm, easy breeze~Porch swing weather .
The mrs. has the most satisfying blister on her thumb from pruning grapevines without gardening gloves (amazing the necessary things you forgot in just a few months). The mister has blisters in other places from riding around all day pretending the grass needed cutting.
We pruned, clipped, raked and cleaned until the post-winter yard looked fabulous and ready for all the rising sap which should break forth any minute now. Down here in God’s Country, winter’s just a burp between a long brown fall and an apple-green spring.

Evidence of spring–growing next to the roots of the big water oak in the front yard.

Trumpet vine trained up an old chainlink fence post, pruned and ready for another year of hummingbirds and flutter-bies. When the leaves come in, it appears to be rising up from the ground and spraying out like a fountain– pretty cool.

Blister-inducing grapevines. The buckets each have a small hole drilled in the bottom– a simple method of drip irrigation when hot weather arrives.

Gotta love that macro setting on the new camera– these hydrangeas buds in the front flower bed are barely visible.

Pansies along the front walk are still going strong.

Would have loved to have been swinging on the porch watching y’all do all the blister-inducing work :o) But alas - we’ve been enjoying the weather up here (except for the tornado watch on Saturday) and have precious little to show for it I’m afraid… It’s always fun to peek in here and see what the busy brz’s are up to.
Blessings,
Beck
