Almost Finished… details, details
January 6th, 2008 by Connie | Filed under Building Materials & Products, Rehab. So exciting! We’re almost, possibly, very close to being done… how much fun is this?
Some pictures just for grins:

New Kohler toilet with 1 1/2 gallon flush, pedestal sink ($108 from Lowes), Price Pfister high-neck faucet in chrome, medicine cabinet with doors on two sides, chrome bar light with four round bulbs. Tub was too dirty from construction debris and begged off the photo-taking for the time being. All that’s needed is a good cleaning and one trim piece behind the sink.
(And a toilet paper holder. And a towel bar. And a toothbrush holder…)

Fairly accurate photo of the contrasting tile in the bathroom– more of a sand color which goes well with the terracotta in the rest of the house.

View from the living room into the two bedrooms and bathroom. Walls are Sherwin Williams Softer Tan (seems to be reading a bit peachy in these pictures, but not IRL.) Doors and Trim are Dover White. Ceiling fan was $40 at Walmart– we’ve had good luck with these in other houses.

Closeup view of the new kitchen hardware– $1.49 each also at Lowes–and a detail of the cabinet glaze.

And this one’s called, “Dinner’s Revenge”
… just because.

I might have matched the grout for the new tile with the grout in the old tile for continuity. This grout looks gray, at least in the picture.
I’m having trouble with paint colors. I have one house that was done in pinks, mauves and wine by the female former owner. Straight out of 1983. Every beige or tan the painter or I pick comes out peach or pink. No matter how tan the chip, the paint comes out pink. Think spice maple cabinets, brushed nickel fixtures and hardware, and PINK.
Hadn’t really thought about that– we’re planning to seal the grout with the same Aquamix grout colorant we’ve used before so I’ll try to use the same color on both
Hey dear friend!! You are such a hoot with those silly (read “disturbing”) chickens!! LOL! And my oh my, the place is looking FANTASTIC!!! I’m so glad for y’all that the reno is drawing to a close - what an inspiration the journey has been - I’m amazed and in awe of the great work you guys do!!
Many thanks BTW for the Christmas present!!!! :o) Maddie will be performing for Cirque du Soleil in no time!!! *grin*
Love y’all - we’ll talk soon…

I have to second that motion– the picture *is* disturbing (just a touch
).
Those chickens were set out to drain & dry before baking–yours truly left the kitchen for a bit and forgot about them. Walked back in and found the sight quite startling. Of course then everyone *else* had to be waltzed into the kitchen for startling purposes… someone suggested they needed weapons to carry out their fiendish plot– well, you get the picture
And– you’re welcome~!
Those pedestal sinks are perfect for smaller bathrooms, which we always seems to wind up with. It really likes nice in your bathroom.
The tiling looks great.
Dinnner’s Revenge — a very thought provoking photo. I may not sleep too well tonight.
Connie, I have that exact same pedestal sink in my bathroom.
This is looking really good. Even “Dinner’s Revenge” was full of charm.
