Kitchen Cabinets
December 7th, 2007 by Connie | Filed under Building Materials & Products, Rehab.Marc’s on his way over right-this-minute. As soon as he arrives, we’re going over to Magnolia to glaze the kitchen cabinets~ Happy Dance! (The mister would like to point out that, technically speaking, he and Marc will glaze and I will chronicle for posterity via digital imaging although I would like to point out that no one would *know* unless the photographer were in attendance.)
To illustrate, a few pictures to show progress so far:

Before: Cabinets were non-functional–doors didn’t close, drawers were missing.

During: My nephew, Christopher, repaired and rebuilt the cabinets. Can’t tell much from the picture, but things are much better.

Mr. Brz sprayed the cabinets and doors using oil based primer and paint (Sherwin Williams: Dover White.)

He turned the living room into a spray paint gallery by taping off the walls with sheet-plastic. The walls are Sherwin Williams Softer Tan.

And this one’s included because my honey looks so cute through the window from the porch.

Great before and after shots. We can all be grateful that the photographer was in attendance!
Hey Terry
Thanks~!
I just got back from the glazing-party… the cabinets are *really* looking good. If this finish lasts the way Marc says it will, its going to be a great technique for rentals. Paint alone just hasn’t been holding up so well.
More pictures soon
We’re about to stain the cabinets in House 2. I will show my husband this post. I normally love stain but yours really look great. How exciting!!!
Did you have to replace all the handles or hinges on the cabinets?
I also love the softer tan on the walls. We are looking for a color like that.
Maria
Hey Maria–
Some of the drawer pulls were missing so we’ll have to replace them all– probably just look for something at Lowes or HDepot.
The Softer Tan is nice and neutral– when the cabinets were white, it seemed to read a bit yellow but with the glaze its back to a light tan. Its the same color we used at home and easy to decorate around
Wow, what a difference!
